In his monumental setting of The Passion According to St. Matthew, J. S. Bach melded baroque grandeur, ancient and contemporaneous texts, and his unsurpassed contrapuntal skills to create one of the towering monuments of classical music.

Following the centuries-old tradition of performing the work during Holy Week, the Dallas Bach Society Orchestra and Chorus, devoted to historically informed performance of 18th century music, presents the St. Matthew Passion, led by artistic director James Richman. The distinguished cast of vocal soloists including tenor Dan Coakwell in the narrative role of the Evangelist, and baritone David Grogan as Jesus.
