Christopher Rouse

If Christopher Rouse’s past compositions are an indicator, expect numerous dramatic moments and brilliant orchestral color when the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and music director Jaap van Zweden perform the world premiere of Rouse’s Symphony No. 5 this weekend. The wide-ranging concert will also include Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with soloist Emanuel Ax and close with a perennial crowd-pleaser, Respighi’s Pines of Rome.

Concerts are 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. mydso.com; 214-849-4376.
